I'm an Investor, Tech Enthusiast, and Photographer from Helsinki Finland with an ambition to live in a new country each year.
I love to take on different projects, some of them shorter and some of them never ending. The projects I'm most passionate about are presented on this website. Obviously not all projects have a positive net present value. But to me they are valuable in many ways I can't precisely describe.
Most of my time goes to finding and meeting software startups all around Europe. I work for OpenOcean, a Venture Capital Fund that invests in delicious, data-intensive software that users love so much they tell their friends about it. Earlier I've been involved in a software startup myself too. And then, for strange reasons, I ended up spending 10 years in the Financial Services Industry, both in an insurance company and in a corporate bank.
I've done my share of academic studies. I hold a M.Sc. in Finance from Hanken Helsinki and a M.Sc. in Computer Science from University of Helsinki. I still study on my own and I believe that the day you stop studying a part of you dies. Every day I try to read and watch/listen as much as possible. Audio books and podcasts have become increasingly important to me.
I started this website and blog simply because I have a lot of stuff on my mind that I want to share. And quite frankly, my family got tired of listening to me, so they said go get a blog (and a life). On a more serious note, this is a great way for displaying things I work on and for igniting discussions. I also hope that this website enables me to get in touch with new friends and ideas. I always enjoy a good and open ended conversation.
