Birthday Reflections

Today is my birthday and as I was contemplating what to write on my blog, it struck me that I could just share my daily journal entry with you all.

Usually my journaling is just a 5 minute exercise. 3 minutes while having my first cup of coffee in the morning and 2 minutes while winding down in the evening.

I’ll admit that this time my reflections took a bit more time than just 5 minutes.

I am grateful for…

  1. Family and friends. Sounds perhaps a bit obvious, but I really mean it. All good things in life are better if you can share them with people you love and care for. And love - that’s the thing we should all be most grateful for.

  2. Health. I’ve been so lucky when it comes to my health that I don’t even know where to begin. For sure, I do my best to stay healthy by exercising regularly and eating well, but it’s crazy how much of everything is still just based on good fortune.

  3. ClaimsCarbon and Villa Maija. These are two highly motivating projects that I’m involved with and they give me tons of energy.

What would make today great?

  1. Get a negative Covid PCR test result so that I can later in the evening board the ferry to Stockholm, Sweden. I’m supposed to be in Stockholm the rest of the week, but I might still get a positive result because I had Covid (omicron) around New Year’s Eve.

  2. Meditate twice, once with Calm and once with Waking Up. Spend some extra time reflecting on life and mortality.

  3. Spend some time with mum and dad later in the afternoon when they’ll stop by - and hopefully there will be positive news to tell them regarding the Villa Maija project by then.

Daily affirmations. I am…

  • An early riser.

  • Prioritizing happiness.

  • A person who gets things done.

  • Someone who connects with friends and family.

Three amazing things that happened today…

  1. Got the negative Covid test result and thus writing this onboard the fabulous m/s Viking Grace!

  2. Received great news regarding a key issue in the Villa Maija project.

  3. Had a nice talk with my parents and even found time to write this blog post.

Today I resisted the temptation of:

  • Alcohol. Yes, I’m still “celebrating” a Dry January and it feels great! #sobercurious

How could I have made today even better?

  • Could have made a few additional work related reachouts.

  • It’s been a long and stressful day. I could’ve avoided some of the stress if I had done my travel preparations earlier.
